An Unrealistic optimism — by the end of the day, when we reflect the amount of water we consumed, we are always confident that we have had water more than enough. But not really. Low drinking water consumption impacts the physical performance and cognitive functions. Moreover, blood is largely made up of water too, so drinking plenty of water is good to keep it healthy and moving freely.
Design an appropriate prompt that can lead to a chain of desired behaviours by indicating or reminding users to perform a task through a nudge. Research shows that the physical space around us shapes people’s behaviour. Many of our decisions are made unconsciously, and how small ‘nudges’ can have large impacts.
Wearables are always on the body to track users goals and daily updates. Keeping in sync with the experience of the iWatch’s activity rings feature, I designed an integration for hydrate to the health native app. The watch will closely monitor and track the blood flowing through veins and arteries. It will then nudge you to drink fluids at regular intervals.
Through motion sensors, everytime the user pick a glass or a bottle to take sips, it detects the arm movement and marks the rise of hydration to meet your set goal
Share a healthy life by persuading your friends to drink more water. Nudging involves subtly changing the structure of the environment without limiting choice.
I got a chance to speak to a few friends about their experiences and I briefly conducted observational study, by focusing on questions like:
I conducted around 6 individual interviews each lasting 18-20 minutes, to probe if the app adds value, any barriers and user thoughts while interacting with the prototpe.
Even though it was a short period of time, a deep dive into user study would have been helpful. High level insights from the feedback session was that there are chances of ignorance if the nudges get excessive.
